Most people who work away from home like to go home from work and leave their jobs behind. Here at Silver Thimble, however, we enjoy our jobs so much we hate to leave it…so…what do we do on our time off? We get together and sew! Here are some of us at Lu’s cottage (the rest were camera shy!), having a great sewing retreat! The woodpeckers outside the window kept us entertained when the laughs didn’t. We were messy and productive and came up with some great new ideas for the shop – you’ll be seeing them soon! All in all, a successful weekend!

Nobody here but us chickens! This is a fun new block of the month which has finally arrived and begins July 1. There are 14 blocks, all of them fusible, which will go quickly for you. Mary Ellen did not like the setting for All Cooped Up! By McKenna Ryan, and so designed a quilt that included all the blocks in the series and added several more to produce this delightful quilt with mischievous young chicks watched over by several papa roosters and an adventuresome old goat. This quilt is only available at Silver Thimble. Stop in to sign up and you can pick up your first block. Sign-ups are limited so stop in soon!

You won’t want to miss the fun! Silver Thimble is sponsoring a 3 day retreat for all you quilting witches! Mark your calendars and plan to attend. It will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 29, 30 & 31 and will NOT include an overnight, but you can quilt as late as you wish. You could go home or stay in a nearby hotel. There will be lots of prizes, special shopping hours with special discounts for witches in costume (now don’t worry. . . Mary Ellen will bring her collection for those of you who don’t want to bring a costume - probably that would be everyone!) There will also be lots of fun. You won’t want to miss this special first time event! It will begin at 1PM on Friday and end at 3 PM on Sunday. Meals will be included (catered from Z Harvest), as well as some snacks. The UFO Club!
Yes, we’ve finally done it! We have developed a group for those of you who need a quilt intervention! Are you drowning in UFOs? Do you have more UFOs than you can (or care to) count? We’ve heard some of your stories - some even have more than 100 UFOs! Are you finding that you do not enjoy quilting as much because you have so many partially finished projects? Then this group is for you. We can’t tell you a lot about how it will go or how many you will get done. We CAN tell you that you will get NO pressure to buy fabric - NO pressure to buy tools! NO pressure to start new things. The only encouragement you will get from us is to finish some of those things you already have going. If you need help and don’t know where to turn, turn toward us. Super Sunday is Back – err - that is – we mean SOUPER SUNDAY
A very special thank you from Silver Thimble to all those who have donated soup to our “Souper Sunday” Food Drive. Souper Sunday continues at Silver Thimble. On the first Sunday of each month, (May 2, June 5), bring a can of soup in for a local food pantry, we will give you an extra 10% off a single cut of fabric. This will be above and beyond any Silver Thimble discount you may receive. Some months we will have refreshments; some months, we will have other specials; some months we will offer demos - so stop in with your soup and find out what’s going on! (Consider bringing 2 cans - no extra discount, but it will show you are a nice person!) Bring your website coupon that day and get the offered special (you can use that coupon any time during the month, though!) Our Souper Sunday is normally the first Sunday of each month, unless it falls on a holiday. |

SATURDAY SEW-IN
The next Saturday Sew-In will be held on Saturday, June 5. Saturday Sew-In is an open sew held the first Saturday of each month from 6-9 or thereabouts. Sometimes we have refreshments. Sometimes we have door prizes. We always have fellowship and advice (sewing that is) if you are having a problem with a project. Call the shop to sign up (no fee – just let us know you are coming!) and we will see you on Saturday night!
The July date for Saturday Sew-in is Saturday, July 10, so mark your calendar!
August date is Saturday, August 7. |
