Machine Felting
Machine felting is a technique to work with wool and various other fibers. The felting machines look very much like a sewing machine but do not have any housing for bobbins. The needles of these machines are not threaded with a thread but simply have small barbs on the needle tips to help push fiber through the other side of the materials. Some of these machines have up to 12 needles or more bundled together and work with an up and down motion to mesh fibers.
This creates new textures and wonderful color hues. Mixing and matching the colors with wool fabrics/felt creates fantastic scenery or other beautiful artwork that can be turned into various items. Such as a purse, pillows table runners and so on. Stop in to Silver Thimble and see the wonderful sample from Isabella.
